Our Story
Little Hills Brings Wine Country To Your Backyard…
With over 20 years producing award-winning wines, Little Hills now ranks among the largest wineries in Missouri. We are located on Historic Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri, in two separate establishments. The Restaurant has patio and indoor dining with a bar, main level seating and a separate loft that can be isolated for private events. Our Wine Shop is across the street and approximately two blocks further south on Main Street. The Wine Shop is the official outlet for Little Hills Wines and carries a wide variety of wine accessories and gift ideas for the wine lover in everyone! The Shop also has a Loft that is perfect for small gatherings or meetings.
The Story Behind Little Hills Winery
The first recorded deed of the Little Hills property dates back to 1805, one year after Lewis & Clark arrived. The land was purchased for $1,500 with consideration of $500 in animal skins. For approximately 10 years the restaurant building housed a pharmacy, and eventually became a meat locker and processing plant. During Prohibition, bootleg whiskey was sold out the back door. After Prohibition it became a tavern called The Golden Buffet and remained as such until Little Hills purchased it in 1986.
In 1998, David and Tammy Campbell (pictured right) purchased the restaurant and have grown the establishment to include not only the restaurant and working winery utilizing local caverns where much of the bottling is done, but also this gift shop just a few blocks further south on Historic Main Street. Our vineyard is in Eiola, MO which is where we grow our Norton and Vignole grapes. Phil Graczyk (pictured below) is their Master Wine Maker.
